Consigned 1806 French antique colored engraving. From Rancois Levaillant's Histoire des Oiseaux de Paradis (1801-1806), a natural history folio of engravings of birds of paradise. The drawings for the engravings are by Jacques Barraband, the finest ornithological artist of his time.
This beautiful print is framed in complimentary French matting with hand drawn French details, watercolor wash panel and marble paper strips. It is professionally framed in a burl veneer with gold ripple details. The glazing is a high quality UV protective acrylic, so there is no concern for breaking or fading.
